In-School STEAM workshops

In- School LEGO STEAM Curriculum

Our vision is to empower tamariki across Aotearoa New Zealand to become creative thinkers and problem solvers.

Take a look at some of our popular curriculum options.

STEAM Curriculum Overview

Historical Voyager

Navigating the past, acknowledging the present and engineering the future these workshops link to Whakapapa me te Whanaungatanga – Origins and Connections. We have paired our Bricks 4 Kidz curriculum to compliment that of the migration and settlement stories to Aotearoa New Zealand.

Interesting Inventions

Introduce your students to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions, and patents. Each model is motorised for maximum movement and fascination! Students are encouraged to think of what they could invent, or improvements they could make to an existing object to solve a problem.

A Pirates Quest

Shiver me timbers!” Explore the popular culture behind the life of a pirate! Build a motorised models such as a pirate ship, a helm, an anchor and even a rowboat to escape. Watch out for crocodiles!

Life Science

Explore the fascinating science of living things and build engaging models of creatures from caterpillars to dinosaurs.  Students will explore topics such as how the human body stays cool, the amazing life cycle of a butterfly, and investigate the Venus Fly Trap – a plant that eats bugs!

Force of Nature

Fasten your seatbelts; we’re in for some wild weather! This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon. Linking to our NZ Science Curriculum

Nga Atua

A journey of discovering how each Ngā Atua is connected to our world. Build a motorised model build to make connections and gain understanding. Linking Te Reo vocabulary, we explore each of the Māori Gods, and their roles as guardians of our world and environment.

Wheels in Motion

These wheels are ready to roll! Students will use LEGO® Bricks, axles, pulleys, gears, and motors to build a variety of models on wheels.  We’ll explore concepts of speed and force and gain non-vehicle knowledge from the unconventional Wheels in Motion models as well.

Sports Science

Delve deeper into the technological aspects in sporting from Olympic Sports like skiing to the many styles of dancing.

Mission 2 Space

Space, often called “the last frontier”, has inspired scientists, stargazers and adventurers for generations. Get inspired to go on your own adventure and join us on a Mission 2 Space!

Gadgets and Gizmos

Students love our interactive Bricks 4 Kidz® models. This unit is all about the fun of doing something with what you’ve built. From a spinning top to a spin art model, kids will love playing with their creations! But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning, too – understanding probability in the “3-in-arow” game model and learning about friction and symmetry. Workshops with so much to explore!

Factory Fun

Have you ever wondered how things are made? Or wanted to operate the big machines in a factory? Join us for some Factory machine builds! You’ll learn about the engineering challenges involved in machine design and maybe be inspired to invent your own machine!

Transportation Timeline

If you like planes, trains and automobiles, these workshops are your match! Explore the history of transportation from horse and buggy and trains to the development of the automobile and flight.

The Curriculum

The curriculum areas each include a presentation of real world Science and Engineering concepts, linking discussions to big ideas and new learning. Model building enhanced by motorised LEGO® robotics invites students to explore engineering principals. Throughout the building process learners apply a range of Mathematical skills to plan, build and problem solve. Curriculum progression is complemented with coding opportunities to explore Technology, set challenges inspire Creativity as students modify and develop new ideas for success.

The difference between The Programmes and The Curriculum.

A programme is the level of Engineering, Robotics or Coding that the learners are at and our Curriculum is the content of STEAM learning that we use to deliver the Programmes.
